I am intrigued by the "cleaning your toilet" challenge. I am unable to participate, because that's one of the jobs my children do for their pocket money. They are growing up relatively well-off, and they need to understand the connection between work and reward, and appreciate the humble work done by so many in our society which keeps the rest of us comfortable.

A while back I was thinking about this for MPs and Senators. Here we often hear about their big expense accounts and all that. I think they should build a dormitory for them in Canberra, a men's and a women's (they already drink too much and there's a sexual harassment scandal every week), and they're rostered on to clean the toilets and showers. The dormitory will take some time to build, but with 226 MPs and Senators, they can start on the toilet cleaning right away.

The regular if not frequent wiping up of scattered piss, shit streaks and unblocking toilets clogged with bloody pads and tampons wrongly-flushed ought to remind them of their place in the world.
