Well this was an appropriate read for me as I dreamed intensely last night and I always write them down. I have recurring themes and people. I don't think they are symbols of something else...I don't know how much I think dreams are necessarily symbols...but they are both warnings and reminders of powerful feelings, longings, incomplete situations. It amazes me what impact some people seem to make in us. They burn their own image into our psyche, and you don't think about it until they reappear in your dreams. Hmph.
Thank you. Sleeping habits have certainly changed and become worse due to etheric starvation. The etheric plane is the energy plane that we sense as "vibes" but also houses sound, lightning, and electricity. The commonest condition of our time is etheric starvation caused by a combination of factors: not enough time outside, depleted food, industrialized environments, and astral sepsis. We sleep but we don't get what our ancestors got out of it. Much of it is because we vibrate "lower" or closer to the material plane and in order for sleep to refresh and nourish, we have to vibrate "higher" or closer to the spiritual plane. For this reason, yogis who have regular contact with the spiritual and causal planes via their own mental mastery do not need nearly as much sleep as you and me. They need maybe three hours whereas I require at least seven or I don't do very well. It most likely has to do with their ability to filter out astral chatter and get to the good part of sleep without a ton of bouncing through the lower astral and etheric planes. Hope this makes sense. My much-neglected TikTok channel has some explanations on the occult view of the subtle planes: http://tiktok.com/@whitewitchoftheprairie
Yes, I think I interpreted it right...you're not just talking here about a decline in biological sleep quality due to distractions, hedonism, work stresses and so on, but that the role of sleep itself becomes different in this age.
That the sleep of our ancestors was of some different nature.
This is along the right lines to me.
I take interest in these types of ideas about sleep as I have some quite impactful sleep problems. When sleep changed for me it was catastrophic and it got me to look at it quite differently. So it's an area I take some interest in, not just the biological side but I'm open to hearing these other interpretations of sleep itself.
Also, have you tried putting bowls of vinegar in the bedroom? And printing out bedside geometrics and putting them near or under your bed? Both are very effective in helping you get a better night's sleep. Sleeping under a weighted blanket filled with tiny glass beads (if you can stand it) can work wonders. Glass is an etheric insulator that shreds the etheric bodies of the entities that attempt to mess with you while you sleep. Also, take anything that depicts a face or a body, such as dolls, stuffed animals, or paintings with people in them, out of the bedroom.
We live in a difficult age, and it is difficult right down to basic things like food and sleep. I agree with you: even on the fundamental level of physically sleeping, that basic bodily task has been subverted and messed up. As far as the spiritual predicament of our age, I talk about it a little here: https://kimberlysteele.dreamwidth.org/59610.html In short, it sucks to be here, but we all seemingly chose it!

Your results may vary. My dreams are often symbolic, however, like I said, sometimes a bird is just a bird and doesn't symbolize a darn thing.
Author, I thought you had an interesting idea that sleep itself has changed over time. That it no longer means or does what it did.

No I haven't. Haven't heard of that one. What are bedside geometrics? I think the etheric bodies have been messing with me .
